 Our season runs from October-February and we have a range of casual positions. If you love working outdoors and have a passion for watersports a career with Manly Kayak Centre may be the one for you!

Manly Kayak Centre has been on Sydney Harbour since 1990 and is proud to be able to provide the most diverse range of aquatic products and services in Sydney.

With 3 locations to rent a kayak, stand up paddle board or hire boat in Manly, we provide access to the best inner harbour beaches and waterways in Sydney Harbour.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality of fun, unique and consistently challenging fitness sessions and tours to all our customers who are looking to improve their health and vitality whilst outdoors enjoying Manly’s pristine beaches and waterways.

Booking Agent

Our Booking Agent is responsible for delivering high standards of customer service across multiple brands. You will deliver bespoke activity packages to local and international tourists as well as organising events such as corporate team building days, weddings and school excursions. The Booking Agent will also work closely with the Experience Manager in order to promote the range of activities offered by Manly Kayak Centre and its associated brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to a high level of customer service in order to provide a bespoke experience for each customer
  • Respond to email, web and telephone enquiries.
  • Sell products and experiences face-to-face in our Booking Office.
  • Continuously upsell products and packages where appropriate.
  • Manage a small retail offering selling supplementary water-sports equipment.
  • Assist in marketing campaigns to achieve desired objectives. Provide content for websites, blogs, and newsletters and manage social media platforms.
  • Ensure that information is accurately recorded in a timely manner into the appropriate software or systems including Google Docs, Excel Spreadsheets, Rezdy etc.
  • Work with the Bookkeeper to ensure that invoicing is accurately created and sent in a timely manner when required.
  • Maintain merchandise inventory control and request replacement stock as required.
  • Ensure that other reasonable duties and or projects are completed upon request.

SUP Instructor

Being a Standup Paddleboard Instructor for Manly Kayak Centre is the perfect position for someone who loves teaching, interacting with customers from diverse backgrounds and being out on the water. Teaching people a new skill in an ocean environment is an exciting and rewarding challenge!

Besides general lessons, there might be a possibility for the right candidate to be a part of our fast growing and incredibly fun SUPBALL league, games and training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver standup paddleboard (SUP) lessons to Manly Kayak Centre and SUPBALL customers according to Manly Kayak Centre standards;
  • Provide engaging experiences for a range of customers including school groups, one-on-one experiences and large corporate bookings;
  • With the Head of Operations plan lesson structures that suit on water conditions as well as the abilities and expectations of the group;
  • Ensure that waivers and other safety documentation are signed and filed according to set processes;
  • Assist in marketing campaigns to achieve desired objectives. There is potential for this role to develop to include​ providing and managing​ content for websites, blogs, newsletters and social media platforms;
  • Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers, personal belongings, and vessels whilst under your instruction;
  • With the Head of Operations discuss potential risks to customer safety and arrange and implement solutions;
  • Direct safety operations in emergency situations;
  • Adhere to NSW Maritime and Manly Kayak Centre boating regulations;
  • Ensure that other reasonable duties and or projects are completed upon request.

Kayak Tour Guide

As a Kayak Tour Guide, you are responsible for leading rewarding, safe, educational and fun trips for people of many backgrounds and experience levels. We expect guides to be strong leaders, knowledgeable in natural and cultural history, good teachers and communicators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver kayak tours to Manly Kayak Centre according to Manly Kayak Centre standards;
  • Provide engaging experiences for a range of customers including school groups, one-on-one experiences and large corporate bookings;
  • With the Head of Operations plan tour routes that suit on water conditions as well as the abilities and expectations of the group;

Deck Hand

Working as a staff member at our Manly Wharf location is the perfect position for someone who loves the water and being outdoors. At times, the wharf can be extremely busy with a lot going on, so applicants must be able to multitask and work efficiently while keeping a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting and greeting customers following check in
  • Providing clear and clear safety and area briefings
  • Choosing appropriate life-jackets and ensuring they are fitted correctly
  • Issuing directions for loading, unloading, and seating on kayaks and standup paddleboards
  • Completing equipment checks under supervision of Operations Manager
  • With the Operations Manager discuss potential risks to customer safety and arrange and implement solutions
  • Follow safety and maintenance procedures to ensure the protection of customers, staff and equipment
  • Follow direction in an emergency situation
  • Adhere to NSW Maritime and Manly Kayak Centre regulations
  • Ensure that other reasonable duties and or projects are completed upon request.

A boat license and/or boating experience would be a plus, but are not required

Boat Operator

Safety on the water is our number one priority and as a Boat Operator, you will fulfil one of the most integral positions at Manly Kayak Centre. You will be performing rescues on the water, transporting equipment in addition to constantly monitoring the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • With the Operations Manager discuss potential risks to customer safety and arrange and implement solutions.
  • Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers, cargo, and vessels.
  • Direct safety operations in emergency situations.
  • Adhere to NSW Maritime and Manly Kayak Centre boating regulations.
  • Issue directions for loading, unloading, and seating in boats.
  • Ensure Manly Kayak Centre complies with legal and WH&S standards including monitoring the weather, wind and how they affect our customers and ongoing activities.
  • Ensure that boat maintenance checks are completed on a regular basis and any required repairs are arranged.
  • Ensure that other reasonable duties and or projects are completed upon request.

Satellite Location Manager

Managing one of our key satellite locations is the perfect position for someone who loves the water, being outdoors and is capable of working independently. You will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations at your assigned location. You will work with the Head of Operations and Experience Manager to set goals and targets for your location as well as ensure that the location complies with current WH&S requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • With the Experience Manager set goals and targets for your location and devise and implement strategies to achieve these targets.
  • Set up for events such as beach picnics, large corporate groups, Kayak Tours, Fitness and Yoga classes.
  • Establish and maintain a strong customer service relationship with loyal Manly Kayak Centre patrons.
  • Work with third party operators to deliver high standard of service.
  • With the Head of Operations discuss potential risks to customer safety and arrange and implement solutions.
  • Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers, personal belongings, and vessels at your location.
  • Direct safety operations in emergency situations.
  • Adhere to NSW Maritime and Manly Kayak Centre boating regulations.
  • Ensure Manly Kayak Centre complies with legal and WH&S standards including monitoring the weather, wind and how they affect our customers and ongoing activities.
